DIGITAL COPY: The Nativity Trail Companion for Older Kids

The Nativity Trail Companion for Older Kids: Pray the Psalms like Jesus is a 35-page self-guided PDF designed for children in grades 4 through 10. After the family prays The Nativity Trail each day of Advent, your older child opens this companion and goes deeper—on their own, at their own pace —and discovers the Psalms in a new way, as the Church’s prayer book.

Each of the 29 days follows the same four-part structure. First, they learn the background of that day's Psalm — its history, its context, its place in the life of the Jewish people. Then they explore its deeper Biblical connections and discover how that ancient prayer points directly to Jesus. Then they spend time with the Psalm in private prayer, the way Jesus Himself would have prayed it. Finally, they journal—recording key verses and writing down what God is revealing to them in this season of waiting.

By Christmas Eve, your older child will have prayed through 29 Psalms with real understanding — not just reciting ancient words, but inhabiting them the way Jesus did.

With the Nativity Trail Companion, your older child is no longer just present at family prayer — they are building something. Day by day, they learn to sit with the Psalms, ask real questions, and listen for what God is saying. The Psalms that Jesus prayed become their own prayer. And the ancient rhythm of waiting that Advent calls all of us into begins to take hold in them in a way that is genuinely, personally theirs.

If you are a Catholic parent determined to give your older child an Advent that is genuinely their own — one that builds real prayer, real understanding, and a real relationship with the Psalms Jesus prayed — then purchasing the Nativity Trail Companion for Older Kids: Pray the Psalms like Jesus is the right decision.
