Praying with Saints for Girls

An incredibly meaningful and lovely First Holy Communion gift for the young ladies in your life!

Product Description

The Saints intercede for us--and they show us how to live holy lives. The Saints teach us to obey God’s will, to suffer with love, and to remain faithful to God no matter what.

But…HOW did they do these things?

THEY BECOME HOLY THROUGH PRAYER.

Living like the Saints starts and ends with prayer.

And so, let’s explore HOW the Saints prayed. What were their favorite prayers? What prayers did they return to and rely on? How did these prayers fit their personalities and serve their unique lives?

Written for Girls

Boys and girls are different.

Although still developing in girls, the feminine genius differs from the masculine genius. God created men and women to complement each other, not to be the same and certainly not to compete with each other.

Therefore, it is our duty as parents and Godparents to cultivate genuine and holy femininity in our young women.

Praying with the Saints for Girls features only female Saints.

It is our hope that this all-star cast of heroic Catholic women will help girls see what holiness looks like for women, whether they are called to serve God in religious life or through the vocation of motherhood.

God created women to be receptive, generous, sensitive, and maternal.

These characteristics are written on the bodies and souls of women. However, women can only live as they were created to live if they are connected to their Creator.

And we connect to our Creator through prayer.

Praying with the Saints for Girls shares the stories of 20 heroic Catholic Women. Following a brief biography, the book explores one way this heroic woman connected to God through prayer. Then, the girl reading the book is challenged to explore and possibly adopt this method of prayer.

Saints and prayers included in Praying with the Saints for Girls are:

  • The Blessed Virgin Mary: Contemplative Prayer
  • St. Josephine Bakhita: Prayer in Nature
  • St. Katharine Drexel: Prayerful Generosity
  • Sts. Perpetua and Felicity: Friendship with Christ
  • St. Fina: The Prayer of Gazing at a Crucifix
  • St. Margaret of Castello: Holy Mass
  • St. Bernadette Soubirous: The Rosary
  • St. Gianna Beretta Molla: Prayers of Thanksgiving
  • St. Catherine of Siena: Prayerful Fasting
  • Bl. Imelda Lambertini: Eucharistic Adoration
  • St. Joan of Arc: Holy Name of Jesus
  • St. Maria Goretti: Prayers of Forgiveness
  • Sts. Louis and Zelie Martin: Family Prayer
  • St. Kateri Tekakwitha: The Our Father Prayer
  • St. Helena: Prayer as a Pilgrim

  • St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta: Acts of Service as Prayer
  • St. Thérèse of Lisieux: Beloved Daughter of God Prayer
  • St. Laura Montoya: Intercessory Prayer
  • St. Frances Xavier Cabrini: The Sacred Heart of Jesus Devotion

Finally, at the end of the book, girls are invited to explore an index of prayers. The full text of prayers, as well as visuals and instructions for each prayer, are included in the index.

Age Recommendation

Encourage the girls you love to begin their lives in Christ after their First Holy Communion.

Praying with the Saints for Girls was written specifically for girls at the age of First Holy Communion. The Saint biographies are short but engaging. Also, many of the prayers are very simple and easy for a child to learn and use.

It is our hope that the saints featured here can become a young girl’s companions as she grows. We also hope that young girls add these prayers to their spiritual treasure-chests so they can return to them often as they grow and head out into the world.

Prayer and a relationship with the Saints connect us to the eternal. Remind the young women in your life that they are daughters of the Most High God, and that they, like the Saints before them, were made not for this world, but for heaven.

Praying with the Saints for Boys

A beautiful and meaningful First Holy Communion gift for the boys in your life!

Product Description

The Saints offer us more than incredible stories.

Studying the lives of the Saints allows us to see how others followed Christ, so we might do the same. The Saints can teach us to obey God’s will, to suffer with love, and to remain faithful to God no matter what.

However, when you study the lives of the Saints, you quickly realize that HOW the Saints accomplished all of these incredible things is always the same.

PRAYER.

Living like the Saints starts and ends with prayer.

And so, let’s explore HOW the Saints prayed! What were their favorite prayers? What prayers did they return to and rely on? How did these prayers fit their personalities and serve their unique lives?

God created men to protect, defend, and love sacrificially. These duties are written in their bodies and their souls. However, men can live as they were created to live only if they are connected to their Creator, and we connect to our Creator through prayer.
