Lent is about Jesus. 

We fast, pray, and give to the poor SO THAT we can draw closer to Jesus Christ. Therefore, we invite you to make getting to know Jesus the primary aim of Lent in your home.

What is the I AM Study?

In the Gospel, Jesus uttered seven powerful “I AM” statements. 

In these statements, Jesus used God’s holy name (I AM WHO I AM) to announce His own divinity. These seven statements also help us understand more about the great mystery of God and the relationship He wants to have with each of us.

The I AM Lenten study aims to look closely at each of Jesus’s “I AM” statements in a way that invites the youngest members of your family into the conversation. 

Throughout the Lenten Season, your family will:

• Memorize short passages of scripture
• Look at the context in which Christ revealed Himself in these statements
• Explore Old Testament stories where God laid the foundation for these statements
• Prayerfully consider the “I AM” statements through the lens of other Gospel events
• Discover how the saints followed Christ to heaven

Each week, the I AM study will help you prayerfully examine one of Jesus’s I AM statements. Along with a devotional written to engage the hearts of the whole family, your family will also have an opportunity to contemplate an original art print of Christ for each statement. 

The prints are included in the back of the study, ready to be displayed each week.

Lenten Study for Families with Young Children

Lent is a GREAT time to introduce daily family prayer in your home, even if you have young children.

The I AM Lenten study was written specifically for families with children kindergarten age and younger. However, this does not mean that the devotional is simple or uninteresting for older members of the family! We strove to create a Lenten journey for the whole family!

I AM will engage the hearts of the youngest members of your family through:

• Beautiful art for each week, to keep your kids’ minds focused on Christ.
• Action-based storytelling and daily devotional readings that are meaningful, but will take less than 3 minutes to read aloud.
• Colorful symbols to go along with each day’s reading.
