The Family Examen

This version of the daily examen was explicitly created for families to use at the end of the day. To do so, simply: 

• Gather your family and open the book. 
• Read the prompts on each page. 
• Ask God to remind you that you are in His presence. 
• Recall the blessings of our day with gratitude. 
• List how you experienced love today, because God is love. 
• Bring our sins and failures to God and ask for forgiveness. 
• Ask God to send the gift of Himself to help you tomorrow.

As you read, take a minute for each person to share one or two things on each of these comments. Many families have discovered just how powerful it is to sit together and share, as well as listen, to others' experiences of God that day.

The Family Examen ends with a simple prayer.

The Family Examen was designed for use by the whole family gathered in prayer. Because of this, it can serve children (and even parents!) of all ages.

Because many families have found that praying with The Family Examen is an easy way to begin daily family prayer, we highly recommend this book for families with young children.
